19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
